Funk music or Soul music is another type of soul shaking, head bobbing, strut walking type of music.  The guitar sounds "hot and Bright" and the bass and drums hold down the rhythm well enough to give the vocalist the room needed to bring the crowd dancing on the dance floor.  I played in a funk/soul band for a few years, it was one of the most fun and memorable experiences I've ever had.  If you're interested in bands like, James Brown, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, The Meters, and Sly & the Family Stone, then funk/soul music is right up your alley.
