Dylan Baker Music: Online Lessons Instructions
Thank you for your interest in the online Lessons! Please follow these instructions outlined below.
Online Lessons Summary
Taking online group lessons through Dylan Baker Music is a great way to get familiar with the guitar as well as getting personalized instruction through the convenience of being in your own home. With that said, I firmly believe there are advantages and disadvantages to online and private lessons. However, if you are looking for convenience, accountability to practice and live feedback from an instructor, online lessons are a great way to get started learning guitar. I will teach separate online classes for kids and adults. Online group classes for adults and kids classes will be 30 minutes. Kids that are 14 and younger are required to be enrolled in the kids class. Once children are 15, parents have the option of enrolling them in the adult online lessons. Parents of the kids attending their online class are required to be present during the kids class.
Cost
Lessons cost $15 per lesson and you will be charged monthly ($60 per month). This is a much more affordable option than the private lessons I teach. It’s a more affordable option due to the lack of private instruction time with each student.
Policies and Procedures
You may cancel your lessons at any time after you have fulfilled your monthly payment. If you need to cancel your online monthly lessons, please give me as much notice as possible for convenience.
Google Meet Summary
The software we will be using for online group lessons is called Google Meet (formerly known as Google Hangouts.) Lessons will be an 30 minutes for kids and adults, with a maximum of 4 kids or adults per online class. I will give a 5-10 minute lecture about different musical concepts each lesson. I will work privately with each group member on Google Meet and answer any questions the student may have regarding the lecture I give or any other questions you may have. Each student will receive 5-10 minutes of personalized instruction each class. I encourage everyone to write down questions or concerns before the online class begins so that I can help you out in the most efficient way possible.
Parents of Children in Online Group Lessons
It’s required for you to attend each lesson or supervise your child closely so you can help them practice during the lesson or help them formulate any questions they may have during the lesson.
Instructions to use Google Meet for Online Group Lessons
I will send you an email that has a link and meeting code that you will use to join the online group lessons. You will use the same meeting code each time you log on, so please save the information for you to access the lessons later. In addition to the email, I will send you a calendar invite that contains a link to access the online group lessons through Google Meet. The online group lessons will be your scheduled weekly lesson time each week. It’s highly encouraged that you try to attend each online lesson. If you are unable to attend your scheduled lesson time, a recording of each lesson will be available for you to watch at a time that’s convenient for you.
I suggest you mute other members microphones during the lesson, this will prevent any feedback issues or extra noise. To mute other people, next to the persons thumbnail, hover over their volume icon and click on the microphone with the line running across it.
If there is any internet lag or technical issues, I will record each lesson and you will be able to view the weekly lesson at a later time. Recordings save to the event organizer’s Google Drive folder (My Drive > Meet Recordings folder). However, if the organizer changes or the meeting occurs outside of the calendar event, the meeting link is sent to the original event creator.
If you are unable to attend the online lesson, you may submit a video, audio recording, or personal email to my email address, dylansguitar@hotmail.com, and I will respond to you that way. The recording is automatically linked in the meeting’s Calendar event if the recording starts and stops during the scheduled meeting time. Calendar invitees who are in the same domain as the meeting organizer are automatically granted access to the recording.
You will still be charged for missed lessons. Due to the videos being recorded and personalize responses I provide, you will be charged as normal at the $60 per month rate.
We will schedule a brief introductory lesson (2-5 minutes) where you can practice logging on and accessing your online lessons. The introductory lessons will be scheduled with Dylan in a follow up email.

Conclusion
I’m excited to teach you and help you progress on the instrument. Online group lessons have pros and cons to private music lessons, however, the most important thing any musician can do is to practice consistently and have fun on their instrument. I’m excited to help you get started on your musical journey.
Thanks,
Dylan Baker
